But the exterior contours were kept as untouched as possible to ensure that the renovation was both economical and aesthetically pleasing. A lovely little living area sits next to a beautiful kitchen and dining space which are all visually connected to the spacious backyard.
Most often home renovations are a part of accommodating the expanding needs of a growing family. This fabulous renovation and extension project in Israel was carried out by Mia Maik and Gilad Maik of the Maik Architects as they wished to convert the old house of their parents into a beautiful modern residence that would accommodate the needs of their young family. While the renovation project is aimed at bringing a distinct contemporary flair to the space there was a sincere effort made in trying to keep the unique and nostalgic charm of the existing structure intact.
There’s a reason why they call it the Box House — it’s really as small as a box. But there’s also a reason why we’re left drooling — its design makes the most of the space while remaining uncluttered and elegant at all times. To balance the textures of concrete the house incorporates plenty of glass which also serves to create a visually spacious and well-ventilated interior. Concrete and glass a winner again!
The second floor (downstairs) is where you will find the Guest Quarters; it has a large Guest Sanctuary (living room) which includes custom furnishings to accommodate 20 guests a large linear fireplace a Game Room with billiard table and access to an outdoor Jacuzzi and party deck. There are three large Guestrooms on this floor and each has its own private bathroom a Bunk Room with queen-sized bunk beds for 12 guests and a very large shared bathroom.
