Most often home renovations are a part of accommodating the expanding needs of a growing family. This fabulous renovation and extension project in Israel was carried out by Mia Maik and Gilad Maik of the Maik Architects as they wished to convert the old house of their parents into a beautiful modern residence that would accommodate the needs of their young family. While the renovation project is aimed at bringing a distinct contemporary flair to the space there was a sincere effort made in trying to keep the unique and nostalgic charm of the existing structure intact.
There must be something about sandy beaches and the use of concrete I hear you saying. You’re right. It’s something that we’ve been saying for awhile now. It’s a trend to bring the outdoors in; and it seems to be a trend to opt for exposed concrete walls that are good insulators (keeps you colder in summer and warmer in winter) and amazing eye-catchers. As with other properties before this Beach House on Long Island is majestic warm and inviting all at once. Not to mention the house has a little bit of zaniness that makes it even more appealing.
The key to getting this look at home: exposed elements (such as ducts and piping) brick walls and an effort to deviate from pure industrial pieces by peppering your space with unexpected touches. Go modern. Go classic. The result will be interesting and weathered.
A lovely sidewalk leads to the entrance of the house which opens up into a stylish living area clad in neutral tones. An open kitchen and dining area are visually connected with the living space on one side and with the gorgeous outdoor garden on the other. Stylish sliding glass door blur the lines between the interior and the backyard while a contemporary floating staircase leads to the top level which houses the master suite and the private terrace.
Large glass windows and doors connected the upper levels seamlessly with the extravagant terraces walkways and patios outside. The interior of the house matches the panoramic views outside in its grandeur as plush decor and contemporary design style win you over.
An interplay of neutral and soft color tones paints the walls. The interior decor of the house was selected to represent a more modern and high-class lifestyle while exercising a magnitude of minimalism at the same time. Entering the house is in other words exploring uncharted territories of comfort and luxury. But in efforts to maintain the level of energy nature prescribes wood flooring and nature-themed furniture were brought in to flirt with the home’s urban chicness.
The home is on three levels and built on a sloping mountainside surrounded by majestic tall pine trees. You enter the residence from the top floor over the tree canopies to keep the views uncompromised where you will find the Main living spaces for the Homeowner.
