This led to the creation of an exceptional residence that effortlessly brings together the old and the new. With Gilad’s mother moving out into a small house next to the existing larger house the interior of the grand old house was altered considerably to usher in an open floor plan.
The overwhelming influence of Japanese design is apparent from the very beginning as one comes across a lovely stone garden and a stylish entrance that reminds us of a typical Japanese garden. An art gallery with sleek minimal design sits on the opposite side of the spacious pool house that offers unabated views of the lake thanks to the extensive use of glass. The interior is covered in teak floors plaster walls and a wood ceiling to give it a peaceful and organic ambiance.
Instead of starting from scratch the architects converted the existing living areas into cozy bedrooms and other private spaces while a brand new wing was added to accommodate a new living room dining area and kitchen. Opening up into the yard this new extension is clad in Australian Hardwood while a metal cladding lends able support. The design is simple efficient and reminds us of prefab metallic homes. Large sliding glass doors connect this entire area with the yard in a seamless manner.
Perched atop a steep slope that offers unobstructed views of this summer home was designed by CCS Architecture to make the most of the narrow lot that it occupies. Dubbed the this gorgeous retreat is spread across three lavish levels that are all clad in pleasing neutral tones.
There is an understated touch of cool Coastal style throughout the house which is coupled with smart Mediterranean overtones. The interior embraces the cool neutral color palette used outside and seems like a natural extension of the spectacular landscape.
An existing bedroom was turned into a beautiful master bedroom that exudes a cool semi-minimalist style. The children’s bedroom the study and the two revamped bathrooms complete this elegant house that relies on the lovely surrounding landscape to truly give it a sense of serenity and inimitable style. With plenty of greenery surrounding the house and even a tree house that has been converted into a compact home office this truly is a residence for those who love to live away from the big city rush!
